INTRODUTION

Purpose

The course provides queries and specific guidelines for ethical conduct in science and practice of psychology. The course covers ethical clinical practice in psychology research, teaching, supervision of trainees, development of assessment instruments, conducting assessment school psychology, educational psychology and organizational consulting, forensic activity, social intervention, administration and other activities. The course helps students apply these codes and regulation to traditional areas of health service provision.

COURSE OUTCOMES

TUTORIAL PROBLEM    I 

The Kenyan media reported that a medical practitioner was arrested and arraigned in court for malpractice in the health care provision. The community at the medical center wondered whether the practitioner was aware of the basic principles of health care ethics.

TUTORIAL PROBLEM 2

A pastor at a local church, insisted that there was only one way of bringing life to earth and that it when a man and a woman have intercourse, and that no man apart from God himself has a right to give and take lives. His son, a doctor thinks otherwise, that there can be other methods used to bring forth life, he is also participating in AI Ds research and feels like an important person in the community.

TUTORIAL PROBLEM 3

After graduation, Dingo’ing’oi a student at Moi University who was pursuing a bachelor’s degree in medical psychology wants to be registered and start practicing professional psychology. He is issued with documents to read and report if he understands the content of the documents before his official registration.

TUTORIAL PROBLEM 4

Wanyama wishes to register as a professional psychologist prior to practicing after completing his degree in medical psychology. He is informed that there are certain bodies of knowledge in health care that are recognized with given codes of ethics, laws, acts, values and standards which are observed. He also wants to participate in research in the field of psychology.
