Based on Chapter 1 TQM and Quality Data sub topic, a related published articles was attached for student readings, namely, “Quality Research Framework: Enumerative Study Versus Analytic Study from Deming’s Perspective” and “A Comparison Between Deming’s Variation Theory and Taylor’s Scientific Management Theory.” Review this paper and try to relate to Management Information System perspective. How the quality and data theory could improve the MIS perspective? Student is freely to give any personal comment and better with supporting relevant case study.

2. Article Review on Data Documentation and Transaction Processing System

Based on topic of Transaction Processing System and related with articles on “Effective File’s Documentation: A Survival Knowledge for Everyone” (Chapter 1 and Chapter 8 only), “A Good Quality Filing System and its Documentation: The Right Information Determined the Right Knowledge for Decision-Making” and “Strengths and Weaknesses on Occupational Safety and Health’s Audit System in a Manufacturing Plant in Selangor”. Review papers and try to relate to Management Information System and Transaction Processing System perspective. How the data quality, normalization technique and ISO documentation could improve the MIS and TPS perspective? Student is freely to give any personal comment and better with supporting relevant case study.

Chapter 5 Foundation of Business Intelligence: Database and Information Management

Objective: To expose student with the ability to design an appropriate business data files’ and records.

Each Student require to answer all the case study questions below.

Submission Date: Week 7 (1^st lesson) with softcopy only.

Case Study 1: Describe the coding theory applied in the natural all beings on earth with relevant examples. (1% marks)

Case Study 2: Describe the coding theory applied in the human being’s daily living life and manual business activities with relevant examples. (1% marks)

Case Study 3: Describe the coding theory applied in the information communication technology with relevant examples. (1% marks)

Case Study 4: (1% marks)

Using Microsoft Excel’s Autofilter, developed a list of salesmen commission information. Information should at least include salesman ID and his name, type of product sale, sales volume and quantity, date of product sales, commission, etc.

Case Study 5: (2% marks)

Using the data list as available in the case study 4, student required to further the analysis with Pivot Table (3 Dimension).

Case Study 6 (2% marks)

Using linking table in Excel to allow instant or real time data change on PowerPoint or Microsoft Word Reporting purpose

Case Study 7 (2% marks)

Using Google Form to capture members who wish to join the Alumni Night Gathering and data can be analyzed using Microsoft Excel their biodata and payment information

Rubric Marks: Two marks for each questions if answered correctly. However, a quiz of 5% mark will be deducted from the 15% marks in order to verify and ensure own genuine work of each student.

Problem Solving and Presentation – A Product Trading or Tourist Website Application 

Publishing A Website To Promote An Attractive Trading Or Tourist Location

Objective: Expose student with various applications that integrate any website application, Google Form, Facebook, Microsoft Word and Excel application to help capture a Trading or Tourist Company business data information into appropriate files and records applies in the real world business transaction. It hopes though such exercise enable student able to implement a company paperless business good data quality documentation.

Case Study Scenario: Trading or Tourist Website Application

The internet is a rapidly expanding venue for communication and interaction.  As a result, it is important not only to know how to navigate the web but also how to create content for it. So, your group are required to develop and publish a website to promote your selected location that will attract viewers to visit that place or product promotion list. In addition, the integration of Excel and Word Software is also applied in this assignment to order to encourage a green paperless trading or tourist company documentation environment.

Site Requirements:

• Home page: this page will introduce the selected location in general
• Attractions: this page tells about specific places in the location or products list available
• Activities and Events: this page should include information about all activities and events provided in each place
• Accommodations: this page should give information about product or hotels / homestays available
• Others like:
  0 Local/Traditional Foods
  0 Historical place
  0 Shopping Places
  0 Maps
  0 Any information that your group think relevant to the topic.

Each page should have a navigation section (links to all the pages in the website)

Site should be functional – all links should work, images show up, Video running, background music, etc.

Site should be attractive, easy to navigate, pages should fit together, colors shouldn’t clash, etc.

• All members must attend; late comer will result the whole team cannot present and mark will be deducted
• 15 minutes’ presentation for each group
• content of presentation slides with 10 slides per A4 page
• Maximum 2 persons per group
• Self-Presentation video attached to your own http website

10% Applications and Website Design report submission in PowerPoint presentation slide

• 8% for applications and website techniques applied
  o First page power Point slide list out member list info, minimum 8 techniques applied.
  o List out the techniques applied in the web design with softcopy evidence – 2% for overall system design artistic

Mandatory Penalty

• Any late submission and not follow submission requirement will not be considered for any mark given
• All members must attend for their presentation.
