Objective:
The objective of this project is to critically evaluate the initial public offering (IPO) of a selected company to determine if it was a sound investment at the time of the offering. Candidates will further analyze whether the post-IPO financial performance and market outcomes validate the initial investment decision.
Project Requirements:
1. Company and IPO Overview (10%)
o Provide a summary of the background of the company, such as its
business model, industry, and strategic goals.
o Discuss the rationale behind the IPO, including the company’s
objectives for going public, and the amount to raise, and how the
proceeds are to be used post-IPO.
2. IPO Valuation and Pricing Analysis (30%)
o Critically assess the valuation of the company at the time of the IPO.
o Compare the IPO price with post-IPO performance in terms of stock
price movement, market capitalization, and investor demand.
o Analyze the company’s financial statements and key financial ratios
prior to and immediately after the IPO. Discuss whether the IPO was
underpriced, overpriced, or fairly priced.
3. Post-IPO Financial Performance and Market Sentiment (30%)
o Assess the company’s financial performance in the quarters
following the IPO. Analyze revenue growth, profitability, and any key
financial indicators that reflect the company’s operational success or
challenges since the IPO.
o Investigate market sentiment toward the company post-IPO.
Compare the company’s performance to that of its competitors and
broader market trends.
4. Risk Analysis (15%)
o Identify the key risks that were present at the time of the IPO and
discuss if they have materialized post-IPO.
o Discuss any significant developments post-IPO (e.g., new projects,
acquisitions, changes in leadership) and how these have influenced
the company’s stock performance.
5. Investment Decision and Recommendation (15%)
o Based on the valuation analysis, post-IPO financial performance,
and risk assessment, provide a well-supported recommendation on
whether the IPO was a good investment.
o Consider both short-term and long-term investment perspectives.
Discuss whether investors who participated in the IPO should hold,
buy more, or sell based on the current stock price and future
prospects.
Deliverable:
• A comprehensive consulting report (maximum 3,000 words) that presents
your analysis and recommendations in a structured and professional
format, including relevant charts, financial models, and references.
Requirements:
1. Candidates are required to work individually.
2. The word count of the report should not exceed 3,000 words (excluding cover
page, table of content, formulas, tables, graphs, and appendices). Report
should be typed by using Times New Roman, 12-point font, 1.5 lines
spacing and page numbering to be inserted.
3. It is important to include in-text citations and a reference list before submitting (the APA method of referencing is preferred.).
