Marks 20 marks per question (40 marks for the two answers)
Session October 2026
Context Plantation operations and the student’s own workplace

Set by the Incorporated Society of Planters (ISP) for its October 2026 session, this ICT paper tests whether planters can apply technology to real estate work rather than describe it in general terms. Candidates pick two of three 20-mark questions covering digital record systems for labour, payroll, stores and crop production, artificial intelligence for crop monitoring, pest and disease detection and yield forecasting, and the protection and backup of estate data. Examples from the candidate’s own estate or plantation company are expected throughout.

Instructions

Choose any TWO of the following questions.

Question 1 (20 Marks): Digital Record Management in a Plantation

Explain how a digital record management system can be used in a plantation to manage important information such as worker records, payroll, stock and production records. Discuss how digital records can help to:

  • Save time
  • Reduce mistakes
  • Find information easily
  • Improve daily plantation management

Give suitable examples from your current work environment or plantation operations.

Question 2 (20 Marks): Artificial Intelligence in Plantation Operations

Explain how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be used to improve plantation operations. Your answer should discuss suitable uses of AI such as:

  • Monitoring crop conditions
  • Identifying pests or diseases
  • Predicting production or yield
  • Analysing plantation information
  • Helping managers make better decisions

Give suitable examples of how AI could be used in a plantation.

Question 3 (20 Marks): Data Security and Regular Backup

Explain why data security and regular data backup are important in plantation management. Your answer should include:

  • Types of plantation information that should be protected
  • Problems that may happen when data is lost or stolen
  • Ways to protect computers and digital information
  • Importance of regular backup
  • How workers can practise responsible use of ICT

Relate your answer to your current workplace or plantation environment where possible.

Planters often lose marks on this ISP ICT paper by writing textbook lists instead of showing how technology changes work on their own estate. A strong Question 1 answer compares the old checkroll, store ledger and production returns with a digital system and shows the time saved and errors avoided. Question 2 works best with concrete AI uses, such as drone or satellite crop-health maps, phone-camera detection of Ganoderma or rat damage and FFB yield forecasting, while Question 3 should match each type of estate data to its risk, security control and backup routine. Our IT assignment helper team can guide you on choosing your two questions and building each 20-mark answer around workplace examples.
