2. Reflect on a personal situation
a. Think of a difficult or stressful situation, problem, or issue you have experienced at home or work (e.g., disagreement with a sibling, miscommunication with parents, planning a household task, helping an angry customer).
b. Choose one that involved communication challenges or successes.
3. Select a communication model
a. From Video #4, pick one specific model of communication (e.g., Linear, Interactive, Transactional). If you choose linear or interactive, which specific model?
4. Apply the model to your situation
a. First, explain the situation briefly.
b. Second, use the chosen model to analyze what happened:
i. Who was the sender/receiver?
ii. What was the message?
iii. What channel was used (spoken, written, non-verbal)?
iv. Were there barriers or noise? Where was breakdown in communication? What/who caused the breakdown?
v. How did feedback or lack of feedback affect the outcome?
vi. Overall, can you say that the communication process was effective?
5. Write a short reflection (Not more than 3 pages- handwritten)
a. Show how the model helps you understand the situation better.
b. Suggest what could have improved communication in that scenario.
