Question 1

a) A solid right circular cone has a mass of 2.5 × 105 g and a height of 2.5 × 103 mm while the base radius is one-third of the height.  Determine the density of the material in kg/m3.

b) Four vectors are shown below:

Calculate the magnitude and direction of the resultant vector. Use the method of vector resolution.  Assume that the magnitudes of ,  ,     and are 200 units, 150 units, 100 units and 50 units, respectively.

c) A car is travelling between two points, A and B. It passes point A with a speed of 72 km/h, and continues at this constant speed for the first 45 s of its journey. The car then accelerates uniformly for the next 80 s until it reaches a maximum speed. It maintains this maximum speed for a further 15 s. Finally, during the last 10 s, the car decelerates uniformly to rest at point B. The total distance between A and B is 6 km.

(i) Sketch the speed–time graph for the motion of the car. (Computer-generated graphs will not be accepted.)

(ii) From the graph, determine the maximum speed of the car.

Andaikan magnitud bagi ,  ,  dan  adalah 200 unit, 150 unit, 100 unit dan 50 unit, masing- masing.

c) Sebuah kereta sedang bergerak antara dua titik, A dan B. Ia melepasi titik A dengan kelajuan 72 km/j, dan meneruskan pada kelajuan malar ini untuk 45 saat pertama perjalanannya. Kereta itu kemudian memecut secara seragam untuk 80 saat seterusnya sehingga mencapai kelajuan maksimum. Ia mengekalkan kelajuan maksimum ini selama 15 saat lagi. Akhir sekali, dalam 10 saat terakhir, kereta menyahpecut secara seragam untuk berehat di titik B. Jumlah jarak antara A dan B ialah 6 km.

(i) Lakarkan graf laju-masa bagi pergerakan kereta itu. (Graf yang dijana komputer tidak akan diterima.)

a) Two objects, one twice as massive as the other, are released from rest from the same height. A student claims that the heavier object will have the greater speed just before hitting the ground.  Do you agree with him? Explain.

b) An object of mass m1 = 10 kg rests on a smooth, frictionless horizontal table as shown below. It is attached to a light cable that goes over a pulley at the table’s edge. The other end of the cable is connected to another object of mass m2 = 15 kg that hangs freely. When the system is released from rest, determine the acceleration experienced by both masses. Calculate also the tension in the connecting cable.

c) Amir, a Form 6 student in Alor Setar, has just learned about work, power, and fluid pressure in his physics class. Curious about real-life applications, he decides to estimate the power delivered by a small water pump used to irrigate his grandfather’s paddy field. From the pump’s manual and some measurements, Amir notes the following information:

Parameter Value
Volume of water pumped per stroke  120 ml
Pressure generated by the pump  25 kPa

The pump operates at a frequency of 90 strokes per minute. Based on this information, Amir estimates that the pump delivers a power of 10 W to the water.

Do you agree with his estimate? Justify your answer.  State clearly any assumptions you make in your analysis.

a) Dua objek, satu dua kali lebih besar daripada yang lain, dilepaskan dari pegun dari ketinggian yang sama. Seorang pelajar mendakwa bahawa objek yang lebih berat akan mempunyai kelajuan yang lebih besar sejurus sebelum mencecah tanah.  Adakah anda bersetuju dengannya? Terangkan.

b) Sebuah objek berjisim m1 = 10 kg terletak di atas meja mendatar licin tanpa geseran seperti ditunjukkan di bawah. Ia disambungkan pada kabel ringan yang melepasi takal di tepi meja. Hujung kabel yang satu lagi disambungkan kepada objek lain berjisim m2 = 15 kg yang tergantung bebas. Apabila sistem dilepaskan daripada pegun, tentukan pecutan yang dialami oleh kedua-dua jisim. Kira juga tegangan dalam kabel penyambung.

c) Amir, pelajar Tingkatan 6 di Alor Setar, baru belajar tentang kerja, kuasa, dan tekanan bendalir dalam kelas fiziknya. Ingin tahu tentang aplikasi kehidupan sebenar, dia memutuskan untuk menganggarkan kuasa yang dihantar oleh pam air kecil yang digunakan untuk mengairi sawah padi datuknya.Daripada manual pam dan beberapa ukuran, Amir mencatat maklumat berikut:

b) You take a 100 g piece of ice from the freezer, where its temperature is –3°C, and drop it into 0.5 kg of water at 30°C. After the system reaches thermal equilibrium, how much water and ice are present in the final mixture?
