Instructions To Candidates
- There are FOUR (4) pages in this Assignment including the cover page.
- This assignment will contribute 20% to your final grade.
- The assignment must be typewritten on 1.15 line spacing, A-4 size paper and single sided. Work should be presented in a folder, with a cover sheet, which includes your name, unit number, tutor’s name, and the essay title.
Marks will be allocated for content, presentation, and referencing.

Extensions and Late Submissions
The University requires students to adhere to submission deadlines for any form of assessment. Penalties applied in relation to unauthorized late submission of work are as follows:
a) Coursework submitted within one week after the deadline will be accepted for a maximum mark of 40%.
b) Any coursework handed in after seven days, without an agreed extension, will be regarded as non-submission and awarded zero.
c) Submission of resit coursework must adhere strictly to the deadline.
No extension will be given and late submissions will be awarded zero.
Subject lecturers are authorized to grant extensions for coursework within their own subjects and agreements will be documented.
Assignment Brief
This individual assignment requires you to reflect on how the four basic management functions – planning, leading, organising, and controlling (PLOC) -are applied in one real organisation. The assessment is primarily aligned to CLO1: apply the basic functions of management (C3, PLO1).
Word count: 2000 ± 200 words.
Format: Individual Reflection
Task
Select one organisation and one managerial issue, challenge, or change. Your essay should explain how the organisation applied, or could have applied, planning, leading, organising, and controlling in managing that situation. The emphasis should be on application and reflection rather than simple description.
