In this exam, you will work with a dataset that represents a fictional company’s sales records. The dataset includes the following key columns: Order ID, Order Date, Ship Date, Customer Name, City, State, Region, Product ID, Category, Sub-Category, Sales, Quantity, and Profit. These fields provide a comprehensive view of the company’s sales performance, customer demographics, product categories, and regional contributions.
Purpose of the Exam
The goal of this exam is to evaluate your ability to:
1. Import and prepare data for analysis in Power BI.
2. Create insightful visualizations, including Column Charts, Line Charts, Cards,
Slicers, Maps, Tables, and Pie Charts.
3. Apply interactivity and advanced analytical features in Power BI to uncover patterns and trends in the dataset.
4. Demonstrate your understanding of dashboard design principles and storytelling with data.
Submission Requirements
You are required to:
• Create a Power BI file (.pbix) containing your completed dashboard with the specified visuals.
• Ensure that all visuals are interactive and provide meaningful insights.
• Submit your Power BI file to the BLMS system for evaluation.
Guidelines
• Use appropriate visuals to highlight the relationships between variables such as Sales, Profit, Regions, and Categories.
• Ensure that the dashboard is clear, well-organized, and user-friendly.
• Use advanced features like filters, calculated columns, and measures to enrich your analysis.
• Make sure to include the answers to the accompanying 20 questions as part of your analysis.

Dashboard Development Instructions
Follow these instructions to design and develop a comprehensive Power BI dashboard using
the provided dataset. Your final submission should include all visuals and functionalities
described below.
Data Preparation
1. Importing Data: Import the sample dataset into Power BI Desktop.
2. Data Validation: Validate the data types for all columns to ensure accuracy (e.g., dates, text, numbers). Make corrections where necessary. Dashboard Design
3. Column Chart: Create a column chart displaying total sales by Category.
4. Line Chart: Create a line chart showing the trend of Profit over Order Date.
5. Card Visual: Add a card visual to display the Total Sales value.
6. Slicer: Include a slicer for Region to filter the data. Ensure it dynamically updates the other visuals.
7. Map Visual: Design a map visual plotting Sales by City.
8. Table Visual: Create a table showing Order ID, Customer Name, Sales, and Profit, sorted by Profit in descending order.
9. Pie Chart: Create a pie chart to display the proportion of Sales by Category.
Interactivity and Analysis
10. Interactivity: Ensure selecting a region in the slicer updates the column chart, map, and pie chart.
11. Filters: Apply a filter to exclude orders with a profit less than zero.
12. Hierarchy: Add a hierarchy for Order Date (Year, Month, Day) in the line chart to enable drill-down functionality.
13. Tooltips: Add custom tooltips to the Column Chart, displaying a Map when hovering over a column.
14. Conditional Formatting: Apply conditional formatting to the Profit column in the table to highlight high and low profits.

15. Calculated Column: Create a calculated column classifying orders as “High Profit” (Profit > 1000) or “Low Profit.”.

Branding and Submission
17. Logo and Identification:
o Import a logo and position it at the top-left corner of the dashboard.
o Add your Nnameand SstudentID using a text box at the top of the dashboard.
18. File Submission: Save your Power BI file (.pbix) with your Nnameand SstudentID in the filename. Submit the file to the BLMS system for evaluation.
