QUESTION 1
(1.1.1) The type of literacy Alex must draw from is language literacy. This involves reading, listening, and speaking with a full understanding of languages and what is being said.
(1.1.2) If I were Alex, the first useful reading strategy that I would use is annotation and taking notes. Alex can also use a highlighter to highlight or use a pencil to underline keywords, literary techniques, and important arguments in the text. Alex can use sticky notes to summarise main ideas, or she can also write short notes in the margins. This strategy is essential, because it can help her to understand more and be more familiar with what she needs to learn. When she is reading about modernism Alex can use a highlighter and start highlighting some features that she sees are going to be difficult for her to learn quicker.
The second strategy that is very important she can use is the Survey, Question, Read, Recite and Review strategy. Alex can also take the section headings and write them into questions, she should focus on answering those questions because they can help her get a better understanding of what she needs to learn. Alex should take the introductions of the chapter she is read on and turn them into questions and summaries by saying or reading them out loud and write down everything that she has learned from the chapter.
Alex must be very note taking and should go through her questions and summaries that will help her to understand and be prepared for her exams but also it will help her to get a full understanding of the chapter. This strategy can help her to be better at reading, and it will boost her mind full of information.
(1.2) The first contextual influence on listening is physical context, which refers to the type of environment you are in. When the background noise in a lecture hall is out of control, or you have a poor internet connection during an online class can reduce concentration and understanding.
The second contextual influence is the Cultural context, because we as humans come from different cultural backgrounds, so people from other backgrounds may interpret tone or your gesture differently, which can influence how the messages are understood by people.
The third contextual influence is the psychological context, which refers to the way a person is feeling, for an example stress and anxiety can play huge role at impacting you from listening and concentrating on what is being said.
(1.3) According to Bill Smith people can process images more effectively than text. The brain can understand images much faster than reading words a single image is able to display or show ideas more clearly than a text.
Images can also play a huge role in the whole world because they can be understood across different languages and cultures without the need of explaining about what is happening in the image. Images can create strong emotions, and they capture attention better than a text, this makes them more interesting.

(2.1) In order for Martha to improve her listening skills, she needs to take accountability of her work and prepare before lecture by going through the topic or chapter. This will help her in understanding the lecture content. Martha should try and organise a seat for herself closer to the lecturer to avoid distractions and improve concentration in class.
She should take notes using method such as mind map that can help her to catch key ideas fast and stay engaged. Martha should also ask question during or after lectures so that she can be helped with points that were unclear, she can also summaries main ideas in her own words so that it can become easy for her to understand.
She should avoid distractions such as a cell phone. Martha should participate in group discussions and share her ideas with peers to improve her listening skills. She should get enough sleep, food, and stay hydrated during her lectures so that she stays alert.
(2.2.1) Annotation refers to the process of adding notes, highlights, or comments to a text to get better clarity and engagement to make it much easier for us to understand the text.
(2.2.2) Clarification refers to finding difficult concepts or words and explaining these difficult concepts to easier or simpler words for better understanding.
- Emphasis is the second main function of annotation, and refers to the processes of highlighting key ideas, underlining even circling evidence.
- The third one is engaging or interacting, which encourages the reader to be more active when reading the text, allows the readers to interact with the text and ask questions about the content.
(2.2.3) For writing explanations or definitions, we can use the Adobe add sticky notes tool so that we can add some forgotten explanations or definitions to the PDF format. Adobe highlighting tool can be used in different kinds of colours of your choice, so that you can be able to draw attention to the important information in your work.

It is because the word “gracefully” describes how she danced and shows us the manner of the action.

In this sentence, the word “tomorrow” tells us when the meeting will take place.

The word “always” tells us how often she arrives early to class.

It is because the phrase “because of the traffic” explains why she was late.

(3.2.2) Information and communication technology.
(3.3.1) It is a social media branding. The central icon shows social media logos, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, we all know that these symbols are for online platforms, so this means that they are representing social branding — they are building and promoting a brand’s identity through social media channels.
(3.3.2) Digital media marketing industry.
(3.4.1) It is car branding. The vehicle has been wrapped with branding for “Yadtel” — they covered it with company contact details. This is industry specific jargon for car branding as a form of mobile advertising a business, product, or service.
(3.4.2) Marketing and Advertising industry.
- I would start by presenting studied, surveys, or statistics that shows the effectiveness of new project management tools.
- I would show them examples of other software development companies who has successfully implemented similar tools, to give them hope that one day we can make it possible.
- I would do some quoting from software developers, ICT professionals or management experts to strengthen my case.
- The other thing I would do is comparing the money lost while implementing this tool, and how long or how much time it took us to make the tool a success.

(4.1) Investigative report
(4.2) The primary function of the report that Michelle can use is to document the grievance and the subsequent investigation process thoroughly. That can help in detailing Michelle’s complaints about Professor William’s management style, lack of support and poor communication.
This report can present findings based on evidence that is gathered during the investigation. It will collect statements from both, Michelle and Professor Williams, and other faculty members in the department of marketing. The report will collect evidence and conclusions regarding whether Professor William’s actions were inappropriate.
