Scenario
You have been offered a job as a tax consultant in a big four accounting firm. The firm has high value clients including individuals and companies who hire the services of your firm for tax purposes. Your managing partner has asked you to prepare an individual report which covers the following tasks using the latest tax legislations, public rulings, or guidelines.

Task 1 (15%)
Sales and service tax (SST) was reintroduced on 1 September 2018 to replace goods and services tax (GST) which lasted 3 years 5 months. Until today Malaysian government still maintain SST as it serves as part of the income for Malaysian government.
Critically discuss the reasons of sales and service tax (other than source of income) that Malaysian government still maintain SST. Additionally, you are also required to discuss the factors that influence non-compliance of sales and service tax and ways to overcome non-compliance of SST especially those companies that are qualified to register and pay SST

Tax evasion refers to an illegal way to reduce the payment of tax liabilities whereas tax avoidance is defined as a proper tax planning exercise to reduce tax liabilities.
Critically discuss the needs of tax audit and investigation on tax evasion. You are required to compare tax evasion with tax avoidance in a table format. In addition, you are also required to provide your own opinion on the ways or methods of reducing tax evasion and tax avoidance.
