ASSIGNMENT QUESTION

The purpose of this assignment is to assess students’ ability to develop a website, demonstrating their capability in web design and the implementation of various scripting languages.

Task 1

In today’s digital age, an academic portal serves as a vital platform for educational institutions to present their academic offerings and engage with prospective students, faculty, and stakeholders. It acts as a digital platform, providing significant details about the institution’s mission, programs, faculty, and achievements.

You have been appointed as a consultant to develop an academic portal for a prestigious university known for its wide array of academic programs and research contributions. The website’s objective is to establish an online presence that highlights the university’s offerings, engages potential students and faculty, and provides comprehensive information. You have to develop the website with the following minimum specifications:

A home page with a suitable title

• Create an engaging home page with a captivating title that highlights the essence of the university’s profile

FIVE additional pages, with different titles and information as follows:

About Us

• Present an in-depth overview of the university, including its mission, values, leadership team, and community outreach initiatives.
• You can also include links to the university’s blog, social media profiles, and other relevant platforms

Academic Programs

• Provide detailed information about the various undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs offered by the university.
• Highlight key milestones and achievements, including notable alumni, partnerships, and affiliations

Research and Innovations

• Detail the university’s research centers, projects, and innovations.
• Highlight faculty expertise, descriptions of major research projects, and their impact on society.
• Showcase success stories and case studies to demonstrate the university’s track record of pioneering research.

Student Resources

• Offer resources for students to enhance their academic and extracurricular experience, such as FAQs, helpful articles, academic advising, and student testimonials.

Career Services

• Outline job placement support, internships, and opportunities for career growth provided by the university.
• Include information on how to access career services and what to expect during the job search process.

The website should also have ONE Visitors Page that provides an inquiry form for visitors to find out more about the university. This page will be linked to the Visitor Form in Task 2

The structure of the web pages MUST be created using HTML or XHTML with appropriate elements and attributes.

You need to use appropriate design for your headings, paragraphs, images or videos, and links between different pages.

The web pages developed MUST have the following components:

• headings and paragraphs
• links and navigations
• images and objects
• tables form

Task 2

Use HTML and JavaScript to create an online enquiry form to allow visitors to post any questions or requests for additional information about the university, as shown in Figure 1 (Sample form).  When the visitor clicks the “Submit” button, the output will be displayed as shown in Figure 2 (Sample of data displayed).
