Purpose

This assignment aims to develop students’ ability to analyse key issues in multicultural education and share informed views on the Malaysian education system, sociology, and philosophy of education, with a focus on promoting inclusive and effective learning environments.

Part I

Question 1: Essay 1 (20%)

Write an essay analysing the key challenges of implementing multicultural education in Malaysian classrooms.

In your discussion:

a. Identify and explain at least THREE (3) major challenges (e.g., language barriers, ethnic bias, unequal participation, lack of teacher preparedness, or resource limitations)

b. Critically analyse how these challenges affect teaching practices, student engagement, and learning outcomes

c. Propose practical, evidence-based strategies that teachers can implement to address these challenges effectively in multicultural classrooms

Your essay must be supported by a minimum of FIVE (5) scholarly references published between 2021–2026.

Write an essay discussing issues of equality and equity in multicultural education within the Malaysian context.

In your discussion:

a. Differentiate clearly between the concepts of equality and equity in education
