Discuss why trustees are fiduciaries and the modern relevance of trusts law.
Instruction
1. Students are required to submit the following presentation materials in the presentation submission link in MyTIMeS:
(i) this completed assessment cover sheet,
(ii) presentation slides in a pdf format –
(a) including an initial cover slide and a final closing slide for references. The initial cover slide should contain the student’s name, ID number and URL link of the YouTube video. The final closing slide should contain the references using OSCOLA referencing conventions,
(b) bullet points and simple sentences are encouraged in the content slides. A font type and size that is suitable for the presentation may be used. Each slide should be numbered (1,2,3…) at the bottom centre of the slide,
(c) in-text references should also be included in the content slides or mentioned during the presentation,
(d) the video presentation and recording should be clear and audible. Varied intonation and body language are encouraged. The presenter must be visible during the presentation, and
(e) the duration of the video cannot exceed 15 minutes (any time exceeding this will not be included in the assessment), and
(iii) a document in a pdf format reflecting the research done for the presentation. This document should
be a script of the presentation including all the references cited. This document is used to clarify audio difficulties of the presentation and is not awarded marks.
2. Students must cite to at least 7 journal articles in answering this assessment.
3. Module learning outcome Assessed – Recognise the need for independent lifelong self-directed learning and legal research in Equity & Trusts law using technology to evaluate judgements for professional development.
4. Feedback will be provided by 13 November 2025.
5. Plagiarism is an offence under Taylor’s Academic Integrity Policy and students who are found to have committed this offence will be subjected to appropriate punishment.
6. Late submission of assessment policy –
(i) a late penalty will be applied to an assessment item submitted after the date for submission stated in this assessment document, or a later date agreed to by the module lecturer in response to an application for an extension of time, and
(ii) the late penalty will take the form of a deduction of a percentage of marks between 5-20% per day, up to a maximum of 5 days, at which time the assessment will be assigned zero marks.
7. Use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools –
(i) generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Microsoft CoPilot and CaseText (among others) may be used in preparing your coursework, but such tools can produce inaccurate or misleading information and misusing such tools can constitute academic misconduct. If Generative AI tools are used, you are responsible for verifying the results obtained using reliable sources, redrafting the results to reflect your writing style, and referencing the tool used. You are strongly encouraged to critically evaluate and modify any AI-generated content that you use in order to fulfil the requirements of this coursework more closely and thereby achieve a better grade, and
(ii) any content that is reproduced verbatim must be placed in quotation marks. Submitting AI-generated content as your own work without proper acknowledgement will be treated as academic misconduct and penalised accordingly under the University’s policy.
