Assignment Objective

This assignment aims to evaluate your fundamental digital skills using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Upon completion, you should be able to:

1. Produce a professional report using Microsoft Word.
2. Organize and analyze data using Microsoft Excel.
3. Integrate both applications into one cohesive project.
4. Manage transportation information systematically to evaluate cost-effectiveness.

Assignment Question

This assignment required you to demonstrate your skills in using the word processor and spreadsheet software. In addition, your knowledge of problem-solving is also required to finish this assignment successfully.

In this assignment, you are required to provide an expenses report for commuting to UITM for your studies. Based on the available transportation modes within the campus, analyze the costs and efficiency of reaching the campus.

Using Word Processing, you need to prepare a report that consists of the following:

1. Table of contents.
2. Introduction
3. Methodology
4. Finding and Analysis
5. Discussion
6. Saving suggestion
7. Conclusion

Report Structure & Requirements

Section 1 – Introduction

Purpose: Describe the background and specific aim of your commuting study. You should address why choosing the right transport is essential for managing your salary or education fund.

Skills Assessed:

• Create, edit, and format paragraphs with proper alignment.
• Set up the Header & Footer.
• Effective use of bold and italics for emphasis.

Section 2 – Methodology

Purpose: Explain the workflow implemented to gather data (e.g., selecting modes like Bus, LRT, Grab, and Motorcycle and tracking them for five days).

Skills Assessed:

• Insertion of icons and lists (bullets/numbering).
• Description of the Excel workflow and data logbook process.
• Use of Format Painter for consistent heading styles.

Section 3 – Findings & Analysis

Purpose: Display the results using a table and chart exported from your Excel analysis.

Skills Assessed:

• Create and format a spreadsheet showing weekly costs and average times.
• Apply Excel functions: SUM (Total Cost), AVERAGE (Travel Time), MAX (Highest Expense), and MIN (Shortest Time).
• Create a Pie Chart showing the percentage of the budget spent on each mode.

Purpose: Critically interpret the trade-off between time and money based on your data.

Purpose: Provide personal recommendations, such as using student discount cards or carpooling.
