RES621 Assignment Brief (30%)

Your group comprising 4 to 6 members is required to invest in the stock market for a period of 4 weeks.

Assume that you have speculative capital of RM2,000,000 for this investment.

Your group is required to:

A. Write a Proposal on the investment – 5%

1. Content of the proposal

i. Investment objective/s
ii. Time Horizon
iii. Risk Tolerance
iv. Investment Strategy
v. Asset Allocation

2. The length of this proposal is between 1 to 2 pages.

3. Cover page: The title of the assignment, course code and course title, the group name, the group member names, their matric no. and contact no.

4. Font side is 12 and double spacing; any font theme.

B. Implement the proposal  

Requirements for investment

1. Create your first portfolio by buying stocks from at least 30 different companies on 15^th June.

2. The price for any buying or selling of stock based on current price and each one lot size is 100

3. The minimum number of stocks in a portfolio at any point in time must be at least from 20 different companies.

4. Sell all the stocks of your last portfolio on 10^th July.

5. There must be a minimum of 8 transactions done within the investment period (including the transaction on 15^th June and 10^th July).

6. No brokerage fee and no margin trading are allowed.

7. Use Yahoo Finance or Google Finance for stock prices.

8. Use Bursa Saham for identification/selection of the companies.

Note:

1. Risk free interest rate is 2.75% and market return is 5.20%
2. Use Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM)

C: Write a Report – 25%

1. Write a report between 800 to 2,000 words based on the outcome of this investment and submit it on 26^th July 2026 in CN.

The marks allotted for the report are 50 and below is the detail

a. Format 5 marks

b. Introduction 5 marks

c. Investment Objective (in point/bullet form) 5 marks

d. Investment Strategy 5 marks

e. Summary of transactions and return 5 marks

f. Reward-to-Variability ratio (Treynor ratio) 5 marks

g. Conclusion 5 marks

h. Learning experience 5 marks

i. Appendices* and references 10 marks
