FIN552 Individual Assignment

Objective

The goal of this individual assignment is to familiarize Bachelor of Business in Finance (Honours) students’ with the stock market trading by simulating stock trades, analysing stock performance, and reflecting on the decision-making process. Students will gain practical experience in understanding how stocks are bought and sold, evaluating market trends, and managing a portfolio. This is to assist students to build practical skills through experiential learning using stock trading simulation.

Instructions

1. Stocks for Trading:

• The assets to trade are the equities fof public listed companies (PLCs) of Bursa Malaysia from different industry (for example; technology, healthcare, energy, consumer goods). Please refer to “BURSA listing by Industry” for guidance.
• Justify why you selected these particular stocks based on research (fundamental and technical analysis).

2. Initial Portfolio Setup:

• Each student is allocated with RM100,000 virtual money.
• Use this to purchase shares of your selected stocks. Please refer to Trading Journal Excel template – Fundamental Analysis spreadsheet to guide your stock selection.
• Record each of transactions in the Trading Journal.

3. Simulated Trading Period:

• The assignment will run from week 1 until week 10.
• Buy and sell stocks during the trading period using platform MyBursa. You will receive the invitation to join the game named “xxx”.
• Use independent stock tracking platform such as Investing.com, Malaysiastock.biz, KLSE screener, Trading view or Bursa Academy platform to guide your trades.

4. Track Portfolio Performance:

• Keep a Trading Journal where you record all trades, including:
• Monitor the value of your portfolio at the end of each week and compare it to the previous week.

5. Deliverables: Due in Week 10, in the UFuture.

Trading Journal: A detailed excel spreadsheet showing all your trades, with dates, stock names, number of shares, prices, and updated portfolio value. Please name the spreadsheet following this format: CLASS_FULL NAME
