A water pump is used to pump water at temperature T, with a minimum flow rate of 100 L/min from one large reservoir to another large reservoir that is at a higher elevation as shown in Figure 1 below. The minor loss coefficients are provided in the figure. The elevation difference, pipe material, diameter, and total pipe length are listed in Table 1.
Your task is to suggest two centrifugal pumps (use internet source for vendor catalogs, don’t forget to quote your source) and make recommendations on one to be used. Specify the pump model chosen, operating flow rate, speed, impeller size, and power requirement. Also, determine and comment on the available NPSH at the operating flow rate, if the pump is located 5 m below the surface of the supply reservoir.
